Credit Report

Request a free credit report at www.AnnualCreditReport.com or by calling 1-877-322-8228.  Consumers are entitled by law to one free credit report per year from each of the three major credit bureaus (Equifax®, Experian®, and TransUnion® ) for a total of three reports every year.

Bankruptcy Case Records and Credit Reporting

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island does not report or provide information to credit reporting agencies. Bankruptcy filings are public records open to examination by law with few exceptions. See 11 U.S.C. § 107Fed. R. Bankr. P. 50039037. The Court also is not responsible for verifying or validating information in credit reports.

Search Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER). You will need to sign up for a PACER account to search for and view records online.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) provide information to the public on their websites about disputing information on credit reports. The FTC’s toll-free number is 877-FTC-HELP (382-4357), and the CFPB’s toll-free number is 855-411-2372.

Refer to the Federal Trade Commission's Identify Theft site and action plan for steps to take if you suspect someone has stolen and is using your personal information.  Act quickly to limit the damage.
