Electronic Filing Registration

Attorneys:  In order to file documents and receive notice electronically with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island, attorneys (and limited access filers) must register online and either provide proof of proficiency in ECF or complete an online training course.  A training database is available for practicing filing documents before using the live system.

Non-Attorneys:  Persons wishing to become limited ECF users, with the ability to file:

  • Proofs of Claim and related documents
  • Request for Notice
  • Petition for Unclaimed Funds
  • Reaffirmation Agreements

and who are not already registered users in another federal court must complete the Limited User ECF on-line training modules and request a Limited Filer login and password by registering with Pacer.  When registering with Pacer, select "Creditor" in the "Role in Court" section.

Detailed registration instructions can be found on the NextGen webpagePlease allow 24 Hours after registering with Pacer for the Court to review and process your request.  When approved or if additional information is required, an email will be sent to the email address provided. 

 

Training

These on-line training modules are available to all for instructional/refresher purposes, but are required to be taken by any applicant who is not currently a registered user in another Bankruptcy or Federal District Court. Click here to register for CM/ECF.  Separate sets of modules are available for attorneys practicing as debtor counsel and creditor counsel, as well as a set of modules for limited users (creditors).
