General Order Entered Closing Bankruptcy Court, Effective March 25, 2020

Bankruptcy Judge Diane Finkle today has entered General Order 20-003 closing the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island, effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020. The exception is as follows:

Those who are required to attend Court hearings, trials, or other matters before the Court where the Court has required in-person attendance.
 
The Bankruptcy Court Clerk’s Office intake counter will be closed for general business. 
 
Attorneys may still file documents and pay fees electronically through CM/ECF.
 
Self-represented parties are directed to review General Order 20-004 which temporarily allows you to file documents electronically by email or by placing in the depository box located outside the Clerk's office public door entrance.  This service begins on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.  Please contact the Clerk's office in advance at 401-626-3100 if you plan to electronically file or mail an emergency filing.  
 
Self-represented parties must either call the Clerk's office at 401-626-3100 to process credit or debit card fee transactions, or mail all associated fee payments (cashier checks or money orders only) to the Clerk's Office at the following address:

Clerk’s Office staff will remain available as usual by telephone and on-line chat during business hours and will continue to monitor emails.
