CLEAR CACHE: How do I clear the cache in my browser to see new changes in the system?

ANSWER:

To clear the Internet Explorer cache (temporary Internet files)

Internet Explorer

Open Internet Explorer

Go to Tools\ Delete Browsing History\

go to the bottom of the "Delete Browsing History" window and click the "Delete all" button.

This may take a minute or two to flush everything out.

To clear the Firefox cache (temporary Internet files)

Firefox

Open Firefox

Go to Tools\Clear Recent History

make sure all the options are checked and click the "Clear now" button.

Schedules filed in response to our Order to File Missing Documents must contain the debtor(s) electronic signature on the schedules and statements that contain a signature line, for example, The Statement of Financial Affairs and the Means Test.

CONVERTING A CASE: I need to convert my Ch 13 case to Ch 7 - what documents do I need?

ANSWER:

If the debtor has not previously converted, you may file a Notice of Voluntary conversion to Chapter 7, along with the $25.00 conversion fee. In addition, within fifteen days, you will need to file a schedule of post petition debts. If there are no post petition creditors, please file the document indicating that there are none.

If this is a post reform case, the Chapter 7 Statement of Current Monthly Income and Means Test Calculation must be filed within fourteen (14) days.

If the debtor has previously converted, you will need to file a Motion to Convert to Chapter 7. If the motion is granted, then the above documents will also be required.

BATCH/MULTI CASE: Are there any special procedures for using the batch and multi-case events?

ANSWER:

When using the batch or multi-case events, before clicking [next] after adding all the case numbers to the window screen, the case manager should first copy the list into the windows clipboard in case one of the cases is invalid. Otherwise, all of the valid case numbers will be deleted and the user will have to start all over again.

Note re Batch events: you must associate a .pdf file with each case in a batch event. No files are associated with multi-case events as these are text only events.

INTERNET PAYMENTS: How do I verify if an internet payment is due or has been received?

ANSWER:

To find out if a payment is due, go to Utilities>Internet Payments Due. All outstanding fees will be displayed.

To find out if a payment has been received, go to Utilities>Internet Payment History. Fill out the applicable time frames and a list of all payments made during that time will be displayed.

AP Summons & Alias Summons: How does the AP case caption get completed on an AP Summons or Alias Summons?

ANSWER:

The system pulls the information that the filer has added during case opening and adds it to the Summons. The filer is not required to do anything to complete the summons or alias summons.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat, or only the Reader? The Reader will only allow you to view PDF documents, NOT convert them to PDF. You must purchase Adobe Writer. Visit www.adobe.com for information and purchase options.

UNCLAIMED FUNDS: Does your court have a list of unclaimed funds?

The Bankruptcy Court for the District of RI has a link on its website, with information on cases containing Unclaimed Funds. If you go to: www.rib.uscourts.gov, you can locate the list under Court Information>Unclaimed Funds. The list may not be completely up to date however, therefore if you have questions about a specific case, you can contact our Financial Administrator, April Elderkin, at (401) 626-3142.

If you need to file a Petition for Unclaimed Funds, you can find the appropriate forms under our Court Forms section.

FEE PAYMENT: How do I electronically pay a filing fee?

Payments may be made electronically through the Utilities section located on your ECF menu. After you click on Utilities you will see a heading called "Internet Payments Due" . Click on it and then you will be directed to the Pay.Gov screen.

CASE CLOSED WITHOUT A DISCHARGE: What does it mean when a case is closed without a discharge? Is it the same as a dismissal?

If you are referring to the specific event 'Case closed without discharge',
it would mean that the debtor did not receive a discharge due to the fact that he
or she did not file the Financial Management Certificate. It is not the same as a dismissal.

CREDIT REPORT: How long will my bankruptcy case stay on my credit report?

The court does not report credit information to the credit bureaus. It is up to the credit agencies as to how long they keep that information on your credit report, so you should contact them for that information.
